Expressions & Emotion

📋 What it is

A few key changes — eyebrows, eyes, mouth — turn a face from happy to angry to shocked; expression carries a character’s feeling.

🗣️ Coach says

A manga face is an emotion machine. Tilt the eyebrows, widen the eyes, change the mouth — and the same character goes from calm to furious to amazed. Learn the few key changes and you can draw ANY feeling.

🧠 Memory hook

Eyebrows + eyes + mouth = any emotion. A few changes, big feeling.

Manga has its own visual “language” for emotion — like a giant sweat drop for stress or a vein-pop mark for anger.

✅ Quick check: Which parts of the face do the most work in showing a character’s emotion?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
