Playing NestTots together 🐦
NestTots is a build-a-nest game for ages 3–5. It’s the grown-up hobby of engine-building (think of games like Wingspan) shrunk to something a three-year-old can hold — and it does the one thing that unlocks the idea: you watch the nest grow and Wrenly carry more berries each trip. The big idea: the more you build, the more you get each time.
1 · Look at the nest
Wrenly’s nest starts with one twig 🌿, so she carries one berry each trip. The nest is always on screen, with “carries N berries each trip” right beside it. Count the twigs together.
2 · Guess, then fly
Before flying, the child guesses how many berries Wrenly will carry — which is just counting the twigs (predict-before-reveal, the single best-evidenced move in the app). Then tap Fly home 🐦 and watch the berries drop into the basket.
3 · Weave in a twig
Now the choice that IS the lesson: weave in another twig — a little twig 🌿 (+1), a branch 🪵 (+2), or a berry-vine 🍒 (+3). Watch Wrenly’s “carries N berries” number go up. The bigger the twig, the more the nest grows — a first taste of “which choice grows my machine more?”
4 · Fill the basket
Keep going and the basket fills faster and faster, because every trip now carries more than the last. When it’s full, the child feels why building the nest mattered — that’s compounding.
No timers, no streaks, no score to chase, and nothing to buy. You can’t lose — the nest only grows. The berries are the mechanic (the nest’s output), never a reward economy. On-device — nothing leaves your device.
