Equivalent ratios name the same relationship — 2:1 = 4:2 = 6:3.

Just like fractions, ratios come in equal families. 1:2, 2:4 and 3:6 all describe the same mix. Multiply or divide BOTH parts by the same number and you get an equivalent ratio — handy for scaling recipes.
