A story kept
Around 11 November, many places remember the people who served. Ask a grown-up who served, or anyone you know, about a time they remember.
Pick one question to ask:
- What is a day you will always remember? What happened?
- Who is someone you want me to know about? Tell me about them.
- What were you proud of when you were my age?
Ask an elder
Before Thanksgiving: one good question, asked slowly, to a grandparent, a neighbour or an elder you know.
Pick one question to ask:
- What did a normal day look like when you were my age?
- What did you learn from your own grandparents?
- What is something you hope I remember?
How to ask
- Ask one question, slowly.
- Listen to the whole answer before you ask the next one.
- Ask one follow-up: “Why did that matter to you?”
- Say thank you. Keep the answer here, on this device.
