How to read a rulebook 📖

A rulebook is a special kind of reading. It doesn’t tell a story — it tells you the steps to play a game, in order. Here’s how a Rulebook Pal reads one.

1 · Read every step, in order

A rulebook is a list of steps. Read them from top to bottom. First you set up, then you take turns, then someone wins. The order is part of the rules!

2 · Play — and watch for mistakes

Now play the game. Rules are easy to forget! Did someone hop the wrong number of spaces? Did they say the lower card won? When you catch a mistake, you really understood the rules.

3 · Write the rule card

The best way to know a game is to teach it. Put the steps back in the right order and you’ve written your own rule card — ready to teach a friend.

Take your time. If you miss one, RulebookPals says “let’s re-read the rule” — mistakes are just part of learning. 💛
