SeedSong on the web is built the same way as our iOS apps: private by design.
Your work stays on this device
Your progress — best scores and XP — is stored only in this browser (on-device storage). It is never sent anywhere. Clear your browser data and it's gone; nobody else can see it.
No accounts, no ads, no tracking
There is no sign-up and no login. There are no ads and no in-app purchases. There are no third-party trackers embedded in the app. The computer opponent runs entirely on this device.
Built for ages 9–14 — and every move is counting
The 400 Concepts questions come straight from the SeedSong iOS design. Oware is a counting game — you count the seeds in a pit and count ahead to where the last seed lands — so the practice quietly builds quick mental arithmetic. Losing seeds is framed as part of the plan, never a scold, and the computer opponent scales from Gentle to Sharp. A hint appears only after a first try.
A tradition played across a continent
Oware — also called awari, and one of the great family of mancala sowing games — belongs to a living West-African and pan-African tradition, played for generations on carved wooden boards and rows of holes in the ground. We honour that shared tradition with respect; the game belongs to everyone who plays it.
Each game's report card
How long is a game, does it usually end with a winner, and is it fair to whoever sows first? We did not guess: the engine played each game against itself 1,000 times, choosing moves at random, and counted. Random play is not how people play, so these numbers describe the rules, not players.
1,000 random-play games each, capped at 600 moves. A sowing that earns another turn counts as its own move.
