For grown-ups
What your child practices
SomaLab builds interoception — reading the body’s side of a feeling. Your child paints where they feel anger, love, or sadness on a neutral body, then compares to the map hundreds of people drew, and discovers that the body’s overall “heat” is really the energy axis of the feeling map — high-energy feelings light up more of the body. It’s a bridge between the felt body and the science your child already meets in AffectForge.
Averages, never a diagnosis
The revealed maps are recreated from published findings (informed by Nummenmaa and colleagues’ bodily-maps research) — group AVERAGES, redrawn in our own art, never a copied figure. They describe what people tend to report; they are never a picture of your child and never a diagnosis. Your child’s own painting is treated as just as real — people vary.
No sensors — notice, don’t measure
SomaLab has no heart-rate sensor, no camera, and no microphone. The heartbeat and breath labs are about noticing the body, not measuring it — and they teach the one honest lever a child has: the breath can be slowed on purpose, and the body often follows. Nothing is ever sensed or recorded.
Honest about what it is
SomaLab builds literacy about the body and feelings; it is not therapy and does not measure or diagnose anyone. If a feeling in the body stays big or heavy for a while, the strongest move is a real one: talk with a trusted grown-up. The crisis resources below are always one tap away.
Our privacy promise
SomaLab Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no microphone, no camera, no sensors; nothing your child paints ever leaves this device. Only which feelings have been mapped is saved, only in this browser.
