How to use it
- Tap the First slot (it highlights), then tap a picture for what happens first.
- Tap the Then slot and pick what happens next. (It moves along for you automatically.)
- When both are set, the board reads the plan aloud in words — "First …, then …". Tap a slot to change it, or Start over.
Why a first-then board
Making a sequence visible — first this, then that — is a long-standing early-childhood and occupational-therapy approach for easing transitions, reducing the stress of stopping one activity to begin another, and turning "then" into a concrete, pointable promise. (We describe the rationale honestly and claim no measured outcome — ThenTots is a supportive tool, not an intervention.)
Keep it a plan, not a demand
A first-then board works best when the child helps build it — offer choices for "then," and keep the tone calm. There is deliberately no score, no streak, and nothing saved; it's a quiet "right now" plan you can change together. Everything is on this device only, with nothing sent anywhere and no notifications.
