Playing TrickPals together 🦉
TrickPals is a cooperative trick-taking card game for ages 6–8 — the friendly, no-chat version of the grown-up games Hearts and Bridge. You and Pip the owl are a team delivering Otto’s mail before a Storm rolls in. The big idea: the higher card of the led suit wins the pile, and you deliver a parcel by winning its trick.
1 · Lead a card
Tap one of Otto’s cards to lead it. Pip then plays a card of the same suit if it has one. Talk it through: “Which card do you think will win?”
2 · The higher card wins — night beats all
Whoever plays the higher number in the led suit takes the trick. A night 🌙 card is trump — it beats any other suit. Point out the ranks: “Your Pine 4 beats Pip’s Pine 2.”
3 · Deliver your parcels ⭐
Some cards are parcels. To deliver one, Otto has to win the trick it’s in — so the trick is to lead your parcel high. Deliver enough parcels and you win!
4 · Pip fights the Storm
The Storm creeps closer each round. Pip flies at night to push it back — but Pip never grabs your parcels. If Pip is ever forced to catch one, it only helps while Pip has caught no more than you delivered. So you have to make the deliveries — Pip can’t win the game for you (that’s the “we win together, not you-carry-me” lesson).
No timers, no streaks, no score to chase, and no chat. You and Pip are one team — if the Storm wins, you just try again. On-device — nothing leaves your device.
