GemForge

A commonplace book you keep in your own words. Read a short idea and where it comes from, then — to keep it — say it your way (you cannot keep a gem just by tapping). Your gems live on this device, connect to each other with a "because", and come back another day so you remember them. No feed to scroll forever, no streak, no real brands, no account. Ages 9–14.

In planning Swift 6 · SwiftUI · FoundationModels Study skills / knowledge organization — build a commonplace book: capture an idea with its source, restate it in your own words, and connect related ideas (paraphrase vs. copy; cite where an idea comes from) Metacognition / memory — use spaced retrieval to remember what you have kept, and self-explanation (restating in your own words) as a check on real understanding Hero color: #6a4fb3

Distributed-narrative cast

Meet the cast

GemForge's commonplace-book crew (ages 9–14) each embody one move of KEEPING an idea worth keeping — the crew IS the method: keep a gem only by saying it your own way, remember where it came from, connect it to another, and let it come back. Mentor Perren keeps the book calm: you keep what you can say yourself, the shelf has a bottom, and nothing scrolls forever — the opposite of a feed. (Illustrated portraits + chapters are a tracked follow-on — R-WEB-CLONE-SPAWN-TRACKED.)

K

Keeva

Keep a gem only by saying it in your own words — you cannot keep an idea just by tapping it; if you can only repeat the exact words, you have the words, not yet the idea

W

Wells

Every gem carries its source — an idea worth keeping knows where it came from; that is what makes a gem more than a note

T

Tethra

Connect two gems with a "because" — the ideas you link on purpose are the ideas you truly keep

R

Renna

Bring a gem back another day so you remember it — spaced return, never a streak; nothing is due, nothing is late

P

Perren

(Mentor) — you keep what you can say yourself; the shelf has a bottom and nothing scrolls forever. A book of a few ideas you own beats a feed of a thousand you forget.
