PauseForge
The space between what happens and what you do. Freeze a hot moment - a group-chat dig, a rained-out trip, taking the credit - pick a strategy, and watch a real model play the consequence out. Then meet the five families of ways to steady a feeling, which ones cost you, and why 'hold it in' is the expensive one. Stillwater the heron holds poised at the water's edge before it acts. No move is 'right', every move has a cost, and nothing you feel is ever saved. Ages 9-14.

Meet the cast
PauseForge is the 9-14 science of the SPACE between what happens and what you do - the regulation-strategy layer above the feeling map. Stillwater the heron is the hero: it holds perfectly poised at the water's edge in the pause before acting - the pause IS Stillwater. The companions each embody one part of the strategy science: how a move fits the situation, what a move costs, that feelings pass like tides, and how changing what a thing means depends on where you stand. Every move is real and every move has a cost - no move is 'right', and nothing a learner feels is ever saved (map, not log).
Stillwater
The pause (hero) - a heron poised at the water's edge in the space between the trigger and the action; the still moment where you get to CHOOSE a move is Stillwater. Freeze, then choose.
Meander
Change the situation, and fit - a river that finds a new route where it can and pools where it can't; embodies situation-fit (act when you can change things, ask a grown-up when it's too big to change alone).
Counterweight
The cost - a stone on a scale that weighs what each move costs; embodies the cost card (distraction's short reach, reappraisal's limits, and why holding it in is the heaviest move of all).
Slack
Wait, and feelings-as-tides - slack water is the still turn between an ebbing and a flooding tide; embodies the truth that a feeling passes like a tide, so 'wait' is always a real move.
Estuary
Change what it means (reappraisal), and its fit - where river meets sea the same water reads as fresh or salt depending on where you stand; embodies changing the meaning, strongest when the situation is out of your hands (Troy 2013).
