Prowl the Kitten Follows the Heat

Prowl is a soft, springy little kitten with big curious eyes and twitchy whiskers, and Prowl LOVES hide-and-seek more than anything. But Prowl doesn’t just dash about the room hoping to bump into the hidden figure. Oh no. Prowl is far too clever for that. Prowl follows the HEAT.

Here’s the secret Prowl knows. When something is hidden, every spot you check gives off a little warmth - and the closer you are to the REAL one, the WARMER it feels. Far away? Cold. Freezing, even - brrr! Getting closer? Warm. Very close? Hot! Right on it? Boiling - you’ve found it!

So Prowl seeks the smart way. Prowl pads to a spot and feels the warmth. “Hmm… cool. A bit chilly. The figure isn’t near HERE.” So Prowl doesn’t waste time there. Prowl tries another spot. “Ooh - warmer! Getting warmer. I’m heading the right way!” And Prowl keeps going toward the warm, step by step. “Warm… hot… HOTTER… boiling!” - and there it is. Found!

“You see?” Prowl purrs. “I don’t guess. I don’t rush around everywhere. I let the heat guide me. Each step, I ask: warmer or colder? If warmer, keep going that way. If colder, turn back. Chase the warm, and it leads you straight to found.”

A young rabbit watching tips her head. “So the trail always tells the truth? Warmer really means closer?”

“Always,” says Prowl, tail flicking happily. “The heat never lies. Warmer is ALWAYS closer. So all I have to do is follow it.”

That is Prowl’s clever, curious idea.

Follow the heat! Warmer means closer, colder means farther - so chase the warm all the way to found.

A grown-up can play too! Hide a little toy while your friend closes their eyes. Then let them search - and every few steps, tell them “warmer!” (closer) or “colder!” (farther). Watch them follow the warm, right to the toy. Warmer, warmer, HOT - found! That’s exactly how Prowl seeks: not by luck, but by following the heat.

When Prowl finally pounces on the hidden figure - “BOILING! Found you!” - the little kitten does a delighted wiggle, whiskers all a-quiver. “Warmer to warmer to warmest,” Prowl purrs proudly. “The heat led me true, every step. That’s how a good seeker finds anything - just follow the warm.”

Chase the warm to found. That’s Prowl.
