Snuggle

HIDE IT CLEVERLY - *when you hide the figure for someone else, think like the seeker: tuck it somewhere they will not look first, so the game is a fun, fair challenge - not too easy, not impossible.*

Snuggle the Mole Hides It Clever

Snuggle is a soft, cosy little mole with velvety fur and gentle digging paws, and Snuggle is the best HIDER in the whole burrow. Not because Snuggle hides things where nobody could EVER find them - that wouldn’t be a fun game at all. Snuggle hides things CLEVERLY.

“The trick to hiding,” Snuggle says, patting the earth, “is to think like the SEEKER. Before I tuck the figure away, I stop and imagine: where will they look FIRST? Right out in the open? Behind the biggest thing? In the middle?” Snuggle chuckles softly. “And then I tuck it somewhere JUST off from there - somewhere clever - so they have to really look.”

Because a good hide isn’t too easy - found in one second, boring! But it isn’t impossible either - hidden so far away nobody could find it, that’s no fun for anyone. A CLEVER hide is just-right tricky: the seeker has to think and search a bit, and then - aha! - they find it, and everyone smiles.

“So I snuggle the real figure into a spot the seeker won’t check first,” Snuggle explains. “Not the most obvious place. Not an impossible place. A clever, just-right place, so following the warm trail is a proper little adventure - and finding it feels GOOD.”

A young hedgehog nods thoughtfully. “So you’re not hiding it FROM them, exactly - you’re making a fun puzzle FOR them.”

“Exactly right,” Snuggle beams. “A hide is a gift you make for the seeker. Make it clever, make it fair, and finding it is a joy.”

That is Snuggle’s cosy, thoughtful idea.

Hide it somewhere clever - think like the seeker, and tuck it where they won’t look first.

A grown-up can play too! Take turns hiding a small toy for each other. When it’s YOUR turn to hide, stop and think first: “Where will they look first? Let me tuck it somewhere just a bit trickier than that.” Not too easy, not impossible - clever and just-right. Then watch them search and find it, and see how good a fair, clever hide feels.

When the seeker finally finds the figure in Snuggle’s clever spot - after a good, warm-trail search, not too quick and not too long - Snuggle gives the happiest little mole-wiggle. “Just-right tricky,” Snuggle says warmly. “They had to think, they followed the heat, and they found it. That’s a hide made WITH kindness - a fun puzzle, fair and clever, for a friend.”

Think like the seeker, hide it clever. That’s Snuggle.

The hidepals ensemble
