About CrossPals

Word games with tiles and boards are usually gated to age 8+ by spelling pressure and adult scoring. CrossPals keeps the one idea at the heart of a crossword — a tile can complete two words at once — and drops everything that makes those games hard for a first-grader. Two words cross, a few squares are blank, and the child places tiles to build both.

Pictures first, no pressure

Every word comes with a picture and is spoken aloud, so a still-learning reader can play. There's no clock, no points, and no penalty for a tile that doesn't fit — just place another. Building comes before scoring.

What it's good for (and what we don't claim)

CrossPals is gentle practice for spelling / letter-in-word and the crossword idea. It is not a reading program or a brain-training app, and we make no claim it raises IQ or test scores — it's a friendly first crossword.
