CrossPals is the first crossword a first-grader can build. Two short words cross where they share a letter, a few squares are left blank, and your child places letter tiles to finish both words at once — the real idea behind crosswords and word games, in a form a 6-year-old can play.
1 · Hear the two words
Each crossword shows two pictures. Tap a picture, or tap 🔊 Hear the words, and the app says both words aloud. The pictures and the words show what you're building.
2 · Place the letter tiles
Tap a letter tile from the rack, then tap a blank square. If it fits, the letter locks in. Some squares belong to both words — that's the crossing, the heart of a crossword. If a tile doesn't fit a square, nothing bad happens; just try another square or another tile.
3 · Build it side by side
This is a lovely lap game: read the two words together, find the letter each blank needs, and let your child place the tiles. There's no timer, no score, and nothing to lose — just friendly little crosswords to build, one at a time.
