Mission 6 of 16

Weather Systems

📋 What it is

Weather is driven by the Sun heating air and water unevenly, creating wind, clouds, and rain.

🗣️ Coach says

Weather is really the Sun moving heat and water around. The Sun warms the ground, warm air rises, cooler air rushes in (that’s wind), water evaporates, cools, and falls back as rain. It’s one big cycle.

🧠 Memory hook

Sun heats → warm air rises → water evaporates, cools, and rains. Weather is heat + water moving.

😂 Giggle

What do you call a sleeping dinosaur?
A dino-snore!

😲 Whoa!

A single thunderstorm can release more energy than a nuclear bomb — all powered by the Sun heating moist air.

✅ Quick check: Where does the water in rain originally come from?

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Breathe on a cold window or mirror. The fog is condensation — water vapour cooling into droplets, just like a cloud.

🤸 Brain break: Cloud-cycle: mime rising steam (evaporate), squish hands into a cloud, then wiggle fingers down (rain).
