About FieldForge

FieldForge is a field notebook: a specimen or scene is in front of you, and you sort each note into what you observe and what you think — the discipline behind every naturalist's journal.

Why a field notebook?

Behind a natural-history museum's halls are scientists whose most basic tool is a notebook — and their most basic skill is keeping observation (what is really there) apart from interpretation (what it might mean). FieldForge turns that into a game with a clear right answer: every note in the bank is single-defensibly one kind, and the engine proves each scene is a real two-column sort.

Safe by design

  • On your device. Progress stays in your browser — no account, no sign-in, nothing sent anywhere.
  • No dark patterns. No timer, no streak to lose, no way to fail — just the scene and the sort.
  • Honest science. Interpretations aren't marked “wrong” — they're a real part of science; the game is about labelling them clearly.
