For grown-ups
FoldoverPals is the fold-over story game (sometimes called Consequences) for two to five children and one screen. A sentence has five parts: who, did what, where, with what, and then. Each child chooses one part from a row of word tiles, then folds it away. The next child cannot see it. When all five parts are in, the screen unfolds and Odo reads the whole sentence aloud.
Every tile in a row is the same kind of word, so any mix of tiles makes a real sentence. That is the lesson underneath the giggles: a naming part, a doing part and a where part each have their own job. After the reading, the sentence is shown with each part labelled and coloured.
Nobody types anything, so nothing anyone writes can be passed around. Children can stop after any sentence. There is a paper version on this page, too: fold a strip of paper five times and write one part in each fold.
The paper version
- Take a long strip of paper and fold it into five bands, like a fan.
- The first player writes who in the top band, folds it under, and passes it on.
- The next writes did what, then where, with what, and and then — folding each one away.
- Unfold it and read the whole sentence aloud. Then ask: which part was the doing word?
What it never does
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking — anything kept stays on this device.
- No streaks, timers to beat, points to chase or leaderboards.
- No chat, and nothing anyone types is sent anywhere.
