The same amount can be written three ways — 1/2 = 0.5 = 50% — and you convert by dividing, or scaling to 100.

Fractions, decimals, and percents are three languages for the same number. A percent is just “out of 100”. Divide top by bottom to get a decimal; a decimal times 100 is a percent. Fluency here unlocks money, sales, and stats.

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
0.75 and 75% — divide 3 by 4 to get 0.75, then ×100 for 75%.
Dividing gives the decimal; multiplying a decimal by 100 gives the percent.
🪄 Trick question: Is 0.5 the same as 5%?
Careful — think it through, then reveal.
No — 0.5 = 50%, not 5%; 5% is 0.05. Move the decimal two places for percent.
Percent means per hundred, so ×100 (two places), not ×10.
