Mission 9 of 16

Fractions, Decimals & Percents

📋 What it is

The same amount can be written three ways — 1/2 = 0.5 = 50% — and you convert by dividing, or scaling to 100.

🗣️ Coach says

Fractions, decimals, and percents are three languages for the same number. A percent is just “out of 100”. Divide top by bottom to get a decimal; a decimal times 100 is a percent. Fluency here unlocks money, sales, and stats.

🧠 Memory hook

Percent = per 100. Fraction ÷ = decimal. Decimal ×100 = percent.

😂 Giggle

Why are fractions never lonely?
Because they're always part of something!

😲 Whoa!

A “50% off” sign and a “½ off” sign mean exactly the same discount — stores just pick whichever LOOKS like a bigger deal.

✅ Quick check: Write 3/4 as a decimal and a percent.

Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.

🪄 Trick question: Is 0.5 the same as 5%?

Careful — think it through, then reveal.

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Convert 1/5, 1/4, and 1/2 into decimals and percents. Which is the best deal: 1/3 off or 30% off?

🤸 Brain break: Three-forms: show the same amount as a fraction (fingers), a decimal (a dot in the air), a percent (draw %).
