Playing HidePals together 🙈
HidePals is hide-and-seek in a little room for ages 6–8. Someone hides a figure (and three sneaky decoys), and the seeker taps around the room following a warm/cold heat trail: 🔥 hot means close, 🧊 freezing means far away.
1 · Play by yourself
Tap “Play by myself” and the game hides a figure for you. Check a spot and it tells you how warm you are; follow the heat to the figure. Watch out — the three decoys 🎭 look like hiding spots but don’t give off heat, so trust the temperature, not your hunch.
2 · Take turns (pass-and-play)
Tap “Two players” and hand the device back and forth. First the hider places the figure and three decoys (the seeker looks away), then passes the device; the seeker sweeps the room by heat. It all happens on one device — nothing is sent anywhere.
3 · Say something — with emojis, not words
When you find it, you can tap a friendly emoji to celebrate. That’s the only way to “talk” — there is no typing, no chat, and no voice. It keeps the game safe and simple.
What it teaches
- Spatial reasoning: read the heat, picture where the figure must be, close in on it.
- Designing for another player: the hider learns to place tricky decoys and a good hide.
- Taking turns: a gentle first two-player game — hide, then seek, then swap.
HidePals is not a lesson or a brain-training app, and we make no claim it raises IQ or test scores. It’s an honest little hide-and-seek.
