About HopTots

Small children love to move and to be in charge. HopTots puts them together: the child taps tiles to build a course of moves — hop, spin, freeze, crawl — and then Bounce the grasshopper calls it out so they can do it together across the room. It’s the maker-ladder for bodies.

A course for a player, not a camera

There is no camera and no body-tracking — nothing watches the child, and nothing leaves the device. The playtest is simply Bounce reading the course aloud while everyone does it. There’s nothing to score. Moving together is the whole point.

The one big idea

Bounce is a little grasshopper. A course he can really do isn’t too long to remember, and doesn’t make him hop and spin over and over with no rest. So the child learns to put moves in order (sequencing) and to design a course for a friend, not just a wild one for themselves — an early taste of making something for someone else to enjoy.

What it’s good for (and what we don’t claim)

HopTots is gentle practice for sequencing and designing an activity for another person, plus the joy of moving together. It is not a lesson or a brain-training app, and we make no claim it raises IQ or test scores. It’s an honest little course maker.
