For grown-ups
How to use it
- Type a short note in the box. Tap Keep it 💛 and it appears in Your notebook below.
- If the browser supports it, a 🎤 Speak button appears — tap it to add the note by voice instead of typing. It is off by default and only starts when you tap it.
- Tap a note to open it (to change it), 🔊 to hear it, or the little × to remove it.
Why a little notebook
Writing a few words down — a thought, a plan, a thing you saw — is early composition and a first taste of "my words, kept." Speaking a note lets a child whose typing is slower still get their idea down (a curb-cut that helps everyone). We describe the rationale honestly and claim no measured outcome — JotPals is a supportive tool, not an intervention.
About the microphone (opt-in, off by default)
Dictation uses the browser's built-in speech recognition. It is opt-in: nothing listens until a child taps 🎤 Speak, and it stops on its own. On some browsers (e.g. Chrome) speech recognition is processed in the cloud by the browser maker; on Apple devices it is on-device. Because of that, dictation is always optional and clearly labelled — and typing always works without it. We keep no audio and send nothing of our own anywhere; a note is saved only on this device.
No pressure, no counting
There is deliberately no score, no streak, and no "how many notes." The notebook just holds the words you kept. Everything is on this device only, with no notifications.
