For grown-ups
What your child practices
MaskPals teaches a key piece of emotion science: you cannot read a feeling from a face alone. A smile can hide worry; a blank face can hide excitement. Around ages 6–8 children begin to grasp that what someone shows can differ from what they feel — so MaskPals turns that into practice: read the real clues (body, voice, and what just happened), then check the surest way of all — by asking.
- Behind the Mask — a friend shows a face that fibs. Your child reads the real clues, guesses the true feeling, then sees what the friend said when we asked. A less-matched guess is a warm “nice looking”, never a “wrong”.
- Meet the Clues — Dapple the chameleon and the three clue-guides (body, voice, what-happened), and the golden rule: read the whole friend, then ask.
Every feeling is a real place
MaskPals never tells a child which feeling to have or to “get back to happy”. Stormy and heavy feelings are as real and okay as excited ones — the game is about reading feelings honestly, not sorting them into good and bad. Tap 🔊 to hear anything read aloud for new readers.
A map, not a mood tracker
This is the promise that makes MaskPals different: it is a map, not a log. Your child’s own feelings are never saved — not on the device, not anywhere. There is no diary, no history, no “how do you feel today?” check-in that gets stored. When the page closes, anything your child explored simply drifts away. Only which games they have played is remembered, in this browser. There is no microphone and no camera.
When a feeling stays big
MaskPals helps a child notice feelings behind the face; it is not therapy and does not measure anyone. If a feeling stays big or heavy for a while, the strongest move is a real one: talk with a trusted grown-up together. Reading a friend’s clues is a spark; a caring adult is the anvil.
Our privacy promise
MaskPals Play is free, works offline, and collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no microphone, no camera; nothing your child feels or taps ever leaves this device. Only which activities have been played is saved, only in this browser.
