How to use it
- Type your child's name, and up to four family names or home words (a sibling, Grandma, the dog). Then hand it over.
- My letters shows your child's letters first, then the rest of the alphabet. Tap any letter to hear it.
- Letter hunt asks which picture starts with a letter from their name. It matches the first letter — "starts with C, like Charlie" — not a sound, because a name and a word can share a letter without sharing a sound.
- Build my name and Trace practise the name itself. Nothing is scored; a wrong tap just says "look for the next letter".
- My book makes a tiny page for each person. Print it and read it together.
Why start with a name
Young children tend to learn the letters in their own name earlier and more easily than other letters, and their name is the first word many of them recognise. So NameTots starts there instead of at A. We describe the rationale honestly and claim no measured outcome — it's a warm first step, not a reading programme.
The names stay here
The names you type are kept in this browser on this device only. They are never sent anywhere, there is no account, and the 🧽 Forget our names button deletes them. There is no score, streak, timer or notification.
