About ObbyPals
Kids love building obstacle courses — and they love watching someone try them. ObbyPals puts the two together. The child stacks bricks to bridge the pits of a course, then Nims the goat comes to run it. Nims is still learning, so he can only climb up one step at a time — if a pit is too deep to climb out of, he gets stuck, and the child fixes it.
Make it fair for the learner
This is the maker-ladder's second rung, after BrickTots (ages 3–5). Where BrickTots is "build a path," ObbyPals is "design a course someone else can complete" — a first taste of level design and fairness: a good course is one your player can actually finish.
The one big idea
Nims can hop down any drop, but he can only climb up one step. So the child learns to bridge every pit until the climb out is small enough — and to test the course by sending Nims, then fix the exact spot he got stuck. Build, test, fix: the real loop of making things.
What it's good for (and what we don't claim)
ObbyPals is gentle practice for early level-design and fairness reasoning, and the joy of making a place a friend can play. It is not a lesson or a brain-training app, and we make no claim it raises IQ or test scores.
