3D Modelling & Sculpture

📋 What it is

3D modelling builds objects in digital space with height, width AND depth, so they can be viewed and lit from any angle.

🗣️ Coach says

A 3D model isn’t a flat drawing — it’s a real digital object with depth you can spin around, light from any side, and view from any angle. It’s like sculpting with math, and it powers games, films and 3D printing.

🧠 Memory hook

3D = height + width + DEPTH. Spin it, light it, view it from anywhere.

Why did the complementary colors always argue?
Because they were on opposite sides of everything!

😲 Whoa!

The same 3D model can be used in a video game, a movie, AND sent to a 3D printer to become a real object.

🖼️ Curate a “3D Basics” hall — choose 4 ideas that make 3D work.

You're the curator. Choose 4 pieces, write a placard for each, then open your hall. There’s no single right set — curate with a reason.

The third dimension flat drawings don’t have.

The points, lines and surfaces a model is built from.

Light from any side reveals the form and shadows.

Wrapping a surface pattern onto the 3-D shape.

A digital skeleton so the model can move/pose.

Turning the 3-D scene into a final 2-D image.

Sending the model to a printer to become real.

Before you open your hall, check your own work — no grade, just a curator’s eye:

🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)

Look at a real object and imagine spinning it — that’s what 3D artists work with.

🤸 Brain break: Spin model: “hold” an object and slowly rotate it to see every side.
