Learning a tactic once isn’t the same as remembering it in a real game. ShelfForge is a calm study shelf that brings positions back just as you’re about to forget them: look at the board, decide your move in your head, then reveal the strongest move and a short why, and grade how you did. The ones you miss come back sooner; the ones you’ve got rest. Nothing leaves this device.

How the shelf works

  1. Study. A real position appears on the board. Read the whole board.
  2. Predict. Decide your strongest move — commit to it in your head before you peek.
  3. Reveal. See the strongest move played on the board, and a first-party note on why it works.
  4. Grade yourself. Again, Almost, or Got it — that’s all. Missed cards return sooner (a 3-pile Leitner shelf).

No timer, no streak, no score — spaced recall works best a little and often, not by chasing a number. New here? You already have a starter deck of six tactics (pin, fork, skewer, discovered attack, double attack, X-ray). Learn them first in GambitTales.
