For grown-ups

StretchTots is about one idea that comes before numbers: two lengths can only be compared fairly when their ends start on the same line. Then the piece that sticks out is how much longer one is.

Start with real things. Put two socks, two spoons or two shoes side by side, ends on the edge of the table, and ask which is longer. The screen comes second, and is happy to stay short.

On screen your child drags ribbons onto the start line, taps the piece that sticks out, and builds a train of short pieces as long as Noodle. Every action is a tap or a drag with a big target, and every drag has a button you can use instead.

There is no reading, no score and no losing. Nothing about your child leaves the device.

We describe what StretchTots is designed to practise. We do not claim it raises test scores.

What it never does

  • No accounts, no ads, no tracking — anything kept stays on this device.
  • No streaks, timers to beat, points to chase or leaderboards.
  • No chat, and nothing anyone types is sent anywhere.
