Mexican Train — The Double Rule
📋 What it is
When someone plays a double in Mexican Train, the NEXT player must "satisfy" it (play on it) before normal play resumes.
🗣️ Coach says
The double rule adds tension. Play a double and it must be answered immediately — the next player has to place a matching tile on that double, or draw and possibly get stuck. Until the double is satisfied, the game "pauses" on it. Smart players save a double to jam an opponent.
🧠 Memory hook
A played double must be SATISFIED next — everyone must deal with it before play moves on.
😂 Giggle
What did the winning player say?
"I'm tile-free and living my best game!"
😲 Whoa!
This one rule turns a double from a scoring bonus into a tactical weapon — timing when to drop it is real strategy.
✅ Quick check: You play a double and the next player has no matching tile. What happens?
Say your answer out loud first — then reveal.
They must draw; if they still cannot satisfy it, they pass and the double stays open.
The double must be satisfied before normal play resumes, so a stuck player draws first.
🧪 Try it! (2 minutes)
Explain the double rule to someone in one sentence, then play (or imagine) a turn where a double blocks the next player.
