About TileTots

Older spelling games ask a child to produce a word from memory. TileTots does the gentler, earlier thing: it shows the word and lets a three-year-old match it, letter by letter. It's the bridge between recognising a word and being able to build it — the step that comes long before spelling on your own.

Shown, not tested

The word appears as faint ghost letters to trace, so there's no memory demand and no way to feel wrong. Every word comes with a picture and is spoken aloud, so a pre-reader can play entirely by looking and listening.

What it's good for (and what we don't claim)

TileTots is gentle practice for letter recognition and left-to-right letter order. It is not a reading program or a brain-training app, and we make no claim it raises IQ or test scores — it's a friendly first step into words.

Safe by design

  • On your device. Progress stays in your browser — no account, no sign-in, nothing sent anywhere.
  • No dark patterns. No timer, no streak, no score — just the words.
  • Words we chose carefully. Every word is a short, familiar, picture-able one.
